2025 Homecoming/ Rally Day
Sunday, September 14th
Come join us worship service to open up our 2025-2026 Church year! We will “Come Home” and “Rally” together to rejoice! All are welcome!
God’s Garden Sunday School begins on Homecoming Sunday!!! Bring your children to enjoy wonderful lessons as they build community where all belong!
Join with a Homecoming Potluck/Bean Bake following the 10am service, and other food besides!

N-Z: A dessert or family-friendly drink to share
There is no admittance fee, but humbly request that if you plan to attend, please bring at least one non-perishable food item to donate to area food pantries. Monetary donations will also be accepted.

Join us in celebrating the wonderful quilts and crafts created by area artists! Vendors, crafts, food, quilts, raffles, and more are here on Saturday and Sunday! Don’t miss it, it’s a wonderful weekend!!

29th Annual Venture Smith Day
Saturday, September 6th 2025 from 1-4pm
Location-First Church Cemetery: Rt. 151, East Haddam
The East Haddam Historical Society invites all to come and learn about Venture Smith, an African-American craftsman and farmer kidnapped and forced into slavery as a child, but freed as an adult. His documented life will be celebrated at this 29th Annual Venture Smith Day in the First Church Cemetery!
Come join us in the Proclamation and Wreath laying, as well as hearing from speakers:
Dr. Akela De Barros Gomes, Director of Black History Center at the Newport Historical Society and lecturer at Brown University,
John Mills, President of the Alex Breanne Corp. and genealogist/scholar,
and Dr. Karl P. Stofko, the East Haddam Municipal Historian, Venture Smith historian, and Venture family genealogist.
